I’ll never forget the first time I stumbled upon Mel Robbins’ “Let Them” theory on Instagram in 2023. I was scrolling aimlessly, trying to unwind, when her words stopped me in my tracks. Robbins, with her unapologetic approach to self-care and emotional boundaries, spoke directly to me. Her theory—about letting go of controlling others’ emotional responses—felt like a revelation. It was a game-changer. At that moment, I knew that this was something I needed to explore more deeply. But the truth is, this theory didn’t fully resonate with me until after I’d experienced a turning point in my own life, one that forced me to confront the painful realities of some of my closest friendships.

Healing & Self-Awareness: A Journey of Understanding

Over the years, I had invested a lot of energy into deep healing. Techniques like EFT tapping and hypnosis had helped me uncover old wounds, recognize harmful patterns, and finally begin to shift them. By the time I encountered the "Let Them" theory, I felt like a relatively self-aware person. I knew my emotional triggers. I understood my blocks. Yet, even with all this awareness, one thing continued to haunt me: my tendency to people-please. I found it incredibly difficult to let go of certain friendships, even when I knew they were no longer serving me. The emotional weight of trying to manage others' expectations and emotions often left me feeling exhausted and conflicted.
