About a month ago, I participated in a group trance healing session that piqued my curiosity. However, nothing could have prepared me for the one-on-one session I recently had with my friend Summer. It was wild, visceral, and beautifully validating.
The session began gently, with Summer tuning in and picking up on my great-grandparents energy. She described my great-grandmother in a way that immediately reminded me of something another medium had said about her last year. It was both uncanny and comforting.
Then came the body scan. Without me saying a word, Summer pinpointed the exact areas where I’d been experiencing pain. That moment cracked something open in me. After recently receiving Reiki, I’d been feeling lighter, more in tune with my own energy field. With that openness, I was more sensitive to the shifts happening during the trance healing session.
Summer had explained to me the difference between trance healing and hypnotherapy. Essentially, both involve entering a trance state, but their intentions differ. In my past hypnotherapy experiences, I’ve been guided into a deep, meditative state to work through anxiety or behavioral patterns using therapeutic suggestions. Trance healing, on the other hand, is an energetic and spiritual practice. The healer is the one who enters a trance state to become a channel for healing energy, with the goal of promoting physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
During this session, I felt a cool breeze on the right side of my body—something I also experienced during my Reiki session, when I was convinced there was an oscillating fan nearby (spoiler: there wasn’t). As I noticed the breeze again, Summer said, “This is going to sound silly, but they want me to tell you to visualize a place you love and imagine a cool breeze there. Maybe somewhere near water.” Of course, I immediately thought of Italy.
Later, when I shared that I had already felt the breeze, Summer explained that this sensation often signifies energy moving, something needing to be released. Then she brought through a message from my great-great-grandmother, who had immigrated to America for what she hoped would be a more abundant life. Summer said she felt my ancestor expressing that, in hindsight, her soul may have found more abundance by staying in Italy. Her message for me: slow down. Be present. Stop running toward a dream that might already be yours. Sit with the abundance already around you.
And then came the moment that jolted me. No, like, literally. As we moved deeper into the session, Summer told me we were shifting into a higher vibration. I said I was ready. Almost instantly, I felt a tug on my right side, as if someone was pulling my arm downward. My whole body shifted. It was startling and powerful. More energy moved. More release.
Then she said something that echoed what my Reiki practitioner had also told me: “You have healing hands. Anything you do with them will bring healing to others.”
By the end of the session, I felt energized, and then deeply fatigued. More evidence that something cellular had been rearranged.
If you’re ever feeling stuck, stagnant, or disconnected from your body or your purpose, I can’t recommend a session with Summer enough. Her gifts are profound, and the guidance I received helped me not only with the physical pain I’d been holding, but with something deeper. You can book a one-on-one session with Summer at The Inner Horizon
After the session, something hit me hard: I only have one week left of work before summer break. And for the first time, I really saw the exhausting cycle I’ve been putting myself through. For ten months out of the year, I push myself so hard that my body breaks down. I wear my pain, fatigue and tension like armor. Then, for two short months, I finally give myself permission to live the slow, joyful, Italian-style life I dream about. I feel vibrant, present, creative—more me.
But that rhythm… it can’t be it. Two months of intentional happiness isn’t enough. Not anymore. My body, my spirit—they're asking for something different. More sustainable. More loving. This trance healing session didn’t just release stuck energy—it revealed a truth I can’t ignore anymore: I don’t want to keep living for the breaks. I want a life in which I don’t need to recover from.
As for my healing hands, I’m continuing to create with more intention. To slow down. To let what I make—whether it’s food, words, or moments—be infused with healing energy. For myself, and for anyone who receives it.

1 lemon juiced & zest
1/2 cup Ricotta
1 Tablespoon Pine Nuts
2 Tablespoons Toasted Panko
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Parmigiano Reggiano (optional)

Meanwhile, in another small pan over low heat, toast Panko with a little olive oil. About 3-5 minutes.
Once the tomatoes have blistered slightly, turn off the heat.
On a plate spoon a little ricotta in the middle and place a lasagna noodle on top to hold the pasta down. Then top with spoonfuls of ricotta, scoop the zucchini and tomato mixture on top and then sprinkle on Panko. Then layer another lasagna noodle on top repeating the process. Once you get to the top layer repeat as before then finish with pine nuts. Drizzle more olive oil over and freshly grated Parmigiana Reggiano on top.
